We are a Platform
technical, legal and financial support, specialized in the development of forest carbon sequestration and silvopastoral projects.
Established in 2021, Canopia has more than 20 years of experience in planning, implementation and monitoring of this type of projects. We have different services oriented to forest owners, technical professionals, organizations and companies interested in carrying out projects or participating in the subject.
To consolidate our position as the technical, legal and financial platform that enhances the development and implementation of nature-based projects through a solid territorial network, made up of local partners with the capacity to implement and monitor carbon sequestration projects, as well as to maintain the functioning of ecosystem services and biodiversity of natural habitats.
Our efforts are oriented to:
- Promote low-carbon rural development that improves the livelihoods of forest dwellers and owners, protecting their social, cultural and economic rights,
- Promote ecosystem governance mechanisms at the landscape scale, resulting in restoration and conservation at the regional scale;
- Contribute to mitigating climate change through nature-based projects that result in verifiable emissions reductions of high quality and socio-environmental integrity.
Our mission is to:
- Collaborate with landowners, as well as our local implementing partners, to structure, develop, monitor and certify their projects to earn income from carbon sequestration environmental services.
- Enable the financing and implementation of restoration and conservation projects.

Our Team
Aware of the challenge we face and committed to the development of large-scale forest carbon projects in Mexico, Canopia Carbon is a multidisciplinary team of experts passionate about climate change, forest conservation and restoration, environmental policy and economics, geographic information systems, mapping, rural finance, social and environmental safeguards, participatory community governance and development, and agrarian law. The integration of this multidisciplinary team has allowed us to successfully develop forest carbon projects that protect biodiversity and promote sustainable social and economic development of communities.
