The certification standards with which we currently develop our projects are:
- Climate Action Reserve (CAR)
- Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) or VERRA
- Climate Community & Biodiversity Standards (CCBS)
Canopia Carbon DOES NOT CHARGE ANY PERCENTAGE per carbon certificate issued. The owners of the property (ejidos, communities or individuals) receive 100% of the value of the carbon certificates that accredit their projects.
The duration of the projects is established according to the certification standards, because the objective of these projects is to promote the long-term conservation of forest ecosystems, some standards establish Implementation Agreements for at least 30 years or up to 100 years.
Our company offers forest owners (ejidos, private landowners) financing granted through strategic alliances, so as not to generate any cost for the implementation of the project. These initial costs will be recovered from the process of buying and selling the carbon certificates obtained.

These are internationally recognized mechanisms for organizations and companies to compensate for the pollution they generate (greenhouse gas emissions), paying for the protection and conservation of forest ecosystems in the world, which perform the environmental service of carbon capture and storage.
Carbon certificates are an international mechanism to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions that contribute to global warming. Each carbon certificate avoids the emission of one ton ofCO2 into the atmosphere through projects that protect and conserve forest ecosystems. The certificates can be acquired by individuals or companies interested in reducing their carbon footprint, either voluntarily or in compliance with their commitments to reduce emissions.
Two types of contracts must be signed:
- Emission Reduction Purchase and Sale Agreement (ERPA), to formalize the transaction for the sale of the carbon certificates generated, which is signed directly by the final buyer.
- Collaboration agreement for the development of a forest carbon project, to formalize the services provided by Canopia as advisor and/or developer of the project.
The lands of the "forest owners" are not endangered, on the contrary, they reinforce their ownership, since they are the ones who act as the owners of the projects before the certification standards, and they are the direct beneficiaries for the proper implementation of the projects.
Canopia provides advice and accompaniment for forest owners to certify their projects and obtain carbon certificates, offering a competitive purchase price for them.
