Santa Elena Forest Restoration Project

This project consists of forest restoration to address degraded areas within the area of activity. It focuses on contributing to the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions through the participation of the Santa Elena ejido in the voluntary carbon market for the mitigation of greenhouse gases. In addition, the project will seek to improve the quality of life of the forest owners and their community by trading carbon credits.
Environmental Impacts
More than 80,000 will be emitted annually, contributing to climate change mitigation.
Flora species such as Cedrela odorata (red cedar), Chlorophora tinctoria, Cordia dodecandra (siricote, cuéramo, cupapé), Alvaradoa amorphoides (Belsinikcheʼ, shrimp), Ehretia mexicana, Simarouba glauca and Tabebuia palmeri will be protected.

It will also seek to protect species such as the Yucatecan cuija, bigeye gecko, striped spiny iguana, salamander (bolitoglossa yucateca), jaguar, armadillo, pumas, badgers, among others. Some of these species are endangered.
Social Impacts
Nearly 80,000 carbon credits will be issued in the first reporting year, benefiting more than 3,000 community members.
The participation of women and young people will be promoted, strengthening the social fabric.
We will seek to strengthen the productive capacities of the Ejido.
